AMIE & ANDRE’S WEDDING

Andre told her a few days before the wedding that it had just dawned on him. Through all the envelop addressing and cake tasting and everything that comes with planning a wedding, it can be easy to miss this key aspect of a wedding day. And she recounted the story at their reception before dinner was served to a huge room filled with all their families and friends from all over the province, country, and even from abroad. Andre had realized that for one day, their wedding day, all of his favourite people would be all together under one roof. It’s so true. Aside from the fact that you get to marry your number one favourite person and best friend in the whole world, after that you then get to spend the rest of the day hanging out with your newly minted spouse as well as all the rest of the awesome people in your life and that is pretty ace too.

Amie & Andre were married in the little white church that you can see from the front porch of Amie’s childhood home, and it was so so lovely. As the girls got ready, they joked about how we should all have just walked across the field for the ceremony (don’t worry, we didn’t. Although I admit I did try my hardest to convince them!) The sky was perfectly blue and the trees were orange and the pews were completely filled to watch as they joined hands and tied the knot on the day that only comes around once a century, the tenth of October (10.10.10). Seeing as Andre wears a small ring on his pinky finger (as he’s an engineer), it seemed pretty fitting that numbers played a little part in their big day. Amie and Andre’s day also happened to fall on the weekend when we celebrate Canadian thanksgiving, and it truly did feel like a big family gathering where everyone was welcome around the table and considered part of their lovely families for the night. Everyone even joined in (or at least watched enthusiastically from the sidelines like me) as the Italian contingent of the family took to the dance floor for some classic Italian tunes (so fun!). Everything about their day had an almost timeless feel to it, from Amie’s birdcage veil and the girls’ faux-fur shrugs to the pinstripe suit Andre wore (love pinstripe…Andre looked sharp!), the absolutely gorgeous pink, cream, and blue bouquets (maybe my favourites ever…those and the cake topper…too cute), to their cozy and dimly-lit reception under a wood beamed ceiling, it all fit Andre and Amie so well. They are loyal, steadfast people who aren’t swayed by the trends and who’s love has already stood the test of time and I know will continue to do so whatever happens.

Amie & Andre, thanks so much for having us be a part of your lovely day! We loved being a part of it, and looking around the room after dinner, with the Italian waltzes going strong, you could tell that everyone there was loving every second too. Hope you like the preview of your photos, that they bring back amazing memories, and that it makes up just a little bit for the fact that you’ve just arrived home to the rain and wind after your honeymoon in paradise…
