Jess and Greg are two of the happiest, most genuine, and friendliest people out there and they are absolutely darling as a pair. These guys got married just outside of the city, underneath the trees smack dab in the middle of wilderness. You know it’s going to be good when you have to drive down a long and winding dirt road for a long while (….and kick up clouds, I mean massive clouds of dust on the way!) to get there, and when you arrive you find that you’ve entered into this idyllic little spot, a converted summer camp with a stone and wood building to one side, old wood cabins scattered about, long wooden benches in a clearing where the ceremony is held, and plenty of tall shady trees……. It truly is a place where you feel like you are somewhere else completely, and it couldn’t have suited Jess and Greg’s laid-back style any better. Despite it being perhaps one of the hottest and most humid days of the summer, I don’t think I ever saw either one without a smile on their face the entire day. Nothing could be more clear than just how excited Jess and Greg were that their day had finally come.
The girls all got ready together that morning and it was such a lovely time to be a part of, especially when Jess gave each of her girls their own little gifts and everybody got a bit teary-eyed…. another highlight was when the dress was going on, and suddenly all that could be heard was the loudest, most sickening noise possible – RRRIP! All of our jaws absolutely dropped, and the thought where are we going to find her another dress before the ceremony??! flashed through my mind when Jess casually laughed and calmly said “oh, it was just the liner.” Biggest sigh of relief imaginable!! We traveled along the dusty dirt road and got teary eyed again as Jess’ dad said some wonderfully lovely things before walking his daughter down the aisle…. they then made their way down the trail and through the trees to where their family and friends (and of course Greg) were sat on benches and had a short but very sweet ceremony that ended in lots of laughs and bubbles : ) Guests hung out wherever they could find a patch of shade, with cold drinks and an assortment of lawn games. Then everybody retreated into the air conditioning and enjoyed a lovely meal and the yummiest edible favours Jess made of lemon shortbread sandwiches (yum!) and just had a wonderful evening celebrating this pretty amazing duo. We were thrilled to be a part and found ourselves thinking at many points along the day that this is what weddings are really all about. Jess and Greg, you guys are two of the reasons why we love what we do so much, and we feel grateful to call you both friends : ) Enjoy a glimpse into their amazing woodland wedding!
