GO SOMEWHERE NEW

The seasons are changing, and our wedding season is still busy but it’s on its tail end. We’ve settled into a routine over the past months – alarm goes off in the morning, we go for a run, then I edit, drink tea, email, throw things for our cat to chase, shoot, eat Dave’s yummy dinner he’s made us….. and repeat. I love it, and I love the rhythm to it. I still often find myself in awe that the life I wanted is mostly the life I have now. But it’s easy, in the journey towards mastering something, to become a victim to it. To get caught inside your own frame of reference. It’s simple to get trapped inside the box of what you know and what you’ve practiced and practiced so that now it just comes easily.

Instead, I feel challenged to make the effort to get out of my comfort zone. To try something new. Because it’s when you put yourself into unfamiliar territory that you notice more and open up your mind to new ways of seeing the world, where you find the solutions to old problems, and discover new opportunities. We cannot be creative inside the vacuum we make for ourselves.

We’re swamped with work but are consciously taking the afternoon to get out of our comfort zones and try something new, just a little personal venture, because in the end we know we’ll be better for it. And I am stupid excited about it!
