Or, it can bring about feelings of endless possibility, a blank slate, the freedom to create…  So, there’s this site called ‘Pinterest’, it’s kinda cool, not sure if anyone’s heard of it yet…….? ha. I’ve been on PINTEREST for a while, are you there too? We should hang out there if you are. Say what you want about Pinterest (and I might agree with most things, ha!), but hear me out… I’m not surprised that pinterest was so helpful! I’m with you, I always thought I was all over the map… until I started looking at my boards that have been curated over the last 15 months (my photography inspiration and office decor boards primarily). I can see what I love, what speaks to me as a creative, and build from there. And – once again – you guys killed it with your style. It’s amazing.  You don’t realize it, but the constant stream of “updates” we receive in this life is overwhelming. Think about it. When before have people, normal people, ever been able to publicly share the highly edited highlight reel of their life, online, as we can now? It all sets us up for rather unrealistic expectations of… True story. Bon voyage! well said. well said. Thanks for this thought-proviking post. I love it!  Hope you all had an excellent New Year’s, however you chose to celebrate! Just thought I’d take a minute here while I wait for the paint to dry (is that a saying? I mean it literally though, we really are waiting for paint to dry before another coat goes on the walls of our new…  I thought and thought, started and re-started this post to sum up 2011. I picked out some images from this past year that caught my eye and pulled at my heart, then thought about all the stories we’ve helped tell this year with so many great people, and how would I ever compile that into… oh wow, so so beautiful. loved reading and seeing the recap of your amazing year. can’t wait to follow along in 2012. and, i hope, to cross paths in person even more. xo. Jess - I do this when I get stuck when I’m working on my thesis. I find it so helpful!
Katy - I’m definitely not one of those people that takes notes on their computer or diagrams things out with fancy software. Even if I did have a second monitor for notetaking, paper will always win for me.
Drawing inspiration from myself is one of the hardest things for me as an artist. That book has been recommended to me before, I’ll really have to find it!
