A LITTLE CANOEING ADVENTURE WITH SUSIE & GREG

We rented canoes and set out onto the lake as the sun began its slow descent. Susie and Greg live quite far away from Dave and I, so when it came to picking a spot to meet up to chat and take some photos, a lake in Algonquin Park seemed like the perfect half-way point solution, especially since these two spend most of their vacation time canoe tripping. I love documenting people doing things they love to do, and this was exactly that for Susie & Greg, this was their element completely. We paddled away from the launch and wound up on the shores of a large and forested island in the middle of the lake, what seemed to be a deserted island, with rows of cabins as though a summer camp had just closed its doors on another season.... I love that what we stumbled across on this evening, totally unplanned and unexpected.Often the best times are the random and unplanned ones, and that was definitely true that night -- I can't describe how much we loved exploring this random place with these two. I don't know if it was the place that was especially conducive to dreaming, but dream-out-loud we did, of lakes yet unexplored and canoe trips yet to be taken, adventures to go on and years to live side by side. These two reminded us that it's not the size of the dream that counts, but the size of the heart behind it. Love the hearts in these two. xo, jennAlgonquin Park, September 2012
